Balbeg Country Holidays are situated in dramatic scenery in the Southern Uplands of South West Scotland, some 50 miles south of Glasgow and 16 miles from the county town of Ayr.

The quality self catering holiday accommodation forms part of Balbeg Estate, a 300 acre estate which lies on the slopes of the valley of the Water of Girvan about 2 miles south of the delightful conservation village of Straiton.

Balbeg Estate extends from the riverbank and valley floor to the hilltops. The lodge and cottages occupy a slightly elevated position overlooking the river. There is also a section of salmon fishing on the Water of Girvan and a small lake with nature hide.

For families Balbeg offers two outdoor play parks, a large nature lake with hide and acres of woodland walks.

We offer a range of holiday accommodation from our 2 bedroom Foxglove Cottage to our 7 bedroom Rabbie Burns Lodge which sleeps 14 to 16.

All properties have full central heating and the lodge, Balcraig House and one of the cottages have en-suite facilities, central heating and all modern conveniences.

Rabbie Burns Lodge, Balbeg Estate.

The Rabbie Burns Lodge, set at the edge of The Wood, has a tremendous atmosphere. Being constructed of quality Scottish timber the woodland feel extends to the lodges. With seven bedrooms this lodge offers spacious accommodation for a large family or for a number of people holidaying together.

Balcraig House, Balbeg Estate

Balcraig House is the magnificent south wing of a country mansion. The house has very spacious public rooms, comprising a very large open living room/dining room (30ft x 25ft) with two open fireplaces on opposing ends of the room, and a large south facing conservatory with fantastic views of the hills nearby. The House can sleep up to 10 in complete privacy. If, however, you have a large party, Doonans Cottage which sleeps up to 8 is close by.

Doonans Cottage, Balbeg Estate.

Doonans Cottage is a large newly built detached cottage set at the edge of woodland. With a large lounge / dining room (wood burning stove) and three bedrooms Doonans Cottage offers spacious bright accommodation for a family group.

Foxglove Cottage, Balbeg Estate.

Foxglove Cottage is new built with a high standard of finish throughout. The lounge has a lovely wood burning stove creating an inviting atmosphere. Two bedrooms (one with bunk beds), separate dining room and lounge. This cottage is ideal for a family or a couple wanting a relaxing break.
