Flounder Tramping
Description
(Annual event) World Flounder Tramping Competition held in Palnackie (usually in July). The tradition involves wading through mud looking for flounders (fish lying in the river bed). Whilst at one time these fish were speared, competitors are encouraged to keep their fish alive and any catches are kept in water until weigh-in point. However - most people seem to go along to the competition for a fun day out. The flounder tramping attracts people of all ages and everyone enjoys a drink, BBQ and music at the Glenisle Inn afterwards. Friendly mud-wrestling and mud-slinging guaranteed!
