Irvine,
an Ayrshire coastal town , was
created a Royal Burgh in 1372 by Robert II and its harbour became a major seaport.
Today, Irvine houses the main site of the Scottish
Maritime Museum, the HQ of North Ayrshire Council, several major industries,
and enjoys a vibrant community spirit with active Burns Club and the week-long
Marymass Festival in August.
Robert Burns worked here in a Heckling Shed in 1781-82.
