Carsluith began as a rectangular tower early in the 15th century, to which a projecting stair wing was added in 1568. The wing is a storey higher than the main block and ends with a watch-room reached by a very narrow stair corbelled out on the west side. The main block had three floors plus an attic. On the ground floor a vaulted passage leads to two vaulted cellars, one of which has a mural chamber.
