Welcome to Kirnaughtry House. This 100 year-old former Edwardian manse, situated in the gentle hills of Galloway on the Mull Peninsula, less than a mile to the sea, is the ideal spot for a rejuvenating break from the daily bustle. Bob and Lynn are pleased to share their home with you…a place where you can rest, relax, recharge and explore.
Kirnaughtry House is a house of many original features, filled with an eclectic mix of furniture, old polished floorboards and traditional Persian Rugs.
Our three elegantly styled, double rooms are infused with a sense of peace and tranquility, awash with space and brimming with uncluttered elegance. Enjoy the old prints, crystal chandeliers, Persian Rugs, and some lovely old furniture…there are green views from every window. When it is time to retire for the evening our comfy beds, crisp linen and feather pillows will ensure a restful sleep awaits you. There’s no TV to distract from the restful sounds of the Galloway silence.
And we mustn’t forget the menu, it will nurture your soul…and your palette.
More of a gourmet restaurant with rooms or a small exclusive country house hotel than a bed and breakfast, at Kirnaughtry House you’ll enjoy delicious and inspired food cooked on our Aga with honesty, heart and soul.
Enjoy our home-made bread and cakes, hand-made preserves, and line-caught fish from the Irish Sea. We source the best local meat, use eggs from our own hens, and use organic seasonal produce from our own garden and local farms.
The sweet and savory smells of breakfast will lure you downstairs in the morning, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, organic muesli and yoghurts, local sausages or the full works! During midweek a tasteful two-course supper is served and our weekend dinner includes five courses of fabulous food......magic..
