Lochinvar Cottage is a beautifully
restored stone built cottage set in a stunning location on the banks of
its own 85 acre loch. The loch is stocked with brown trout and fly fishing is available to those staying at the cottage.
The cottage is situated on an unclassified road in a quiet and very
peaceful rural situation just 3 miles from St Johns Town of Dalry. The
pretty village has a charming main street of mainly painted harled
houses and a range of convenience stores, a post office, bank
(restricted opening times), a hotel and a welcoming village inn/pub.
The village of New Galloway is only three miles further down the road
offering additional village store and selection of cafés / pubs.
Lochinvar Cottage features:
- An entrance vestibule leads to a comfortable open plan sitting room with large wood burning stove and exposed ceiling beams.
- The
room is open plan to the dining room and has stairs leading up to a
double mezzanine bedroom (combed ceilings) with magnificent views
across the Loch.
- There is a well equipped galley style
kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A high chair can
be provided if required.
- Beyond the dining room is a ground
floor triple bedroom which is furnished with a bunk bed and a single
bed with a pull out bed underneath. It can sleep 4 people.
- There
is a garage to the side of the property which can be used for storage
of bikes etc (the use of 4 bicycles is included at own risk).

The
area is rich in wild life. The loch attracts Swans, Grey Lag Geese,
Grey Herons and is home to two Great Crested Grebes to name only a few.
We also have a local Barn Owl that frequents our garden. There are
Eagles, Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Red Dear and even Stoats. The
‘Galloway red Kite Trail’ around Loch Ken is only a few miles away
