Lotus Lodge is a large traditional village house which enjoys a unique position in the heart of Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland, directly on the Southern Upland Way. Wanlockhead was used in the filming of the BBC Drama Hope Springs and the exterior of Lotus Lodge was used as the "Hope Springs Hotel."

The house was purchased privately in 2006 by Lisa and Richie, from the Scottish Youth Hostel Association, and has undergone extensive refurbishment. The accommodation is now bright, comfortable and cosy with full gas central heating throughout. The relaxing guest lounge has a wood burning stove, comfortable couches and a television, an ideal place to put your feet after a long day walking/cycling/sightseeing. The fully modernised kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven, as well as a feature wood burning range cooker. There is a twin bedroom, a family bedroom sleeping up to 6 people, and two bunk rooms - one sleeping up to 8 and the other sleeping up to 12 people. The house also has a drying room, laundry and secure bike shed.

Lotus Lodge is self-catering but the village pub is only 2 minutes walk away and offers good pub meals and a great pint. The award-winning Scottish Lead Mining Museum is also only minutes from the hostel where you can experience a real lead mine and then enjoy the scones in the tearoom!

There are also stunning walks/cycles/drives all around Wanlockhead and you can also take a ride on the tourist train which runs on Britain's highest adhesion railway between Leadhills and Wanlockhead.

Lotus Lodge can accommodate up to 28 people and group bookings, whether it be for walking/cycling groups or family/friends looking for a weekend get together , are welcome.
Fresh bed linen, duvets and pillows, all at no extra charge.

Please feel free to call us or email us at lisa@lotuslodge.co.uk should you wish any further information or to make a booking. Lisa and Richie look forward to extending you a warm welcome.
