Description
The Murray Arms Hotel is a traditional 18th Century Scottish Coaching Inn centrally located in Gatehouse of Fleet. This charming town of whitewashed buildings stretching along the wooded banks of the Water of Fleet in the heart of the beautiful Galloway hills is one of the most picturesque areas of Scotland.

The Murray Arms Hotel is steeped in history, with parts of the building dating back to 1642 when it was the original "Gait House" or Tollbooth from which the town takes its name. In 1760 the present building was constructed as a Coaching Inn on the Dumfries to Stranraer stagecoach route, and in 1763 Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet, wrote the stirring anthem "Scots Wha Hae" in a room now named after him.

The Murray Arms Hotel has twelve en suite bedrooms and a self contained cottage, three dining rooms, two bars and three public rooms, and is fully equipped to cater for business meetings and conferences, weddings, and functions. We can also arrange a variety of leisure breaks including golf, fishing, walking, cycling, shooting and stalking. For over two centuries The Murray Arms Hotel has welcomed weary travellers with warmth, courtesy and a friendly smile.

This tradition of hospitality is our most treasured asset and we look forward to welcoming you to The Murray Arms Hotel in person soon.

A 9 hole Golf Course is close to The Murray Arms Hotel, with Dumfries and Galloway offering 30 courses in total, including at Portpatrick and Southerness. In addition, further along the Ayrshire coast is the world famous course at Turnberry.
