Palnackie is a village little changed since its days as a thriving inland port, with colour-washed houses around the Harbour - now silted up. The upper floors in two-storey houses in Palnackie were once lodgings for sailors. Competitors use bare feet and spears to catch fish from mud flats in Palnackie's World Flounder Tramping Championships, off Glen Isle peninsula.
