St Marys Loch
 St Mary's Loch, the largest natural loch in the Borders Region was created during the last ice age by two glaciers, one flowing down the Yarrow and another down the Megget Valley.
Where they joined they scoured out a deep hollow which when the ice melted flooded to form the loch. At this time there would have been only one loch. St Marys Loch and the Loch of the Lowes have been split up as a result of debris flowing down the Crosscleuch and Ox Cleuch burns to form the isthmus on which Tibbie Shiels Inn now sits.
The same process can be seen happening where the Megget Water flows into the loch.
The Southern Upland Way runs past St Mary's Loch which is an accommodation location for the route.
