Stable Cottage is a 250 year old whitewashed stone building that was originally part of the stable block for the private Cairnsmore Estate near Newton Stewart. As soon as you drive through the estate gates, along the avenue bordered by rhodedendron and broad-leaf trees, the surroundings evoke a by-gone time.
Stable Cottage's fabulous and peaceful Wigtownshire location near Newton Stewart makes this the ideal base for relaxing and exploring the local area. The enclosed garden is south-facing and a wonderful sun-trap where the red squirrels and greater spotted woodpeckers are frequent visitors.
Stable Cottage has a large airy kitchen equipped with fridge, oven, hob, microwave and washing machine. Here guests will also find a traditional pulley on which to warm and dry your clothes. The bright, but cosy, lounge offers a TV, DVD and CD player, and is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploration. There are two bedrooms in Stable Cottage, both overlooking the back garden. The master bedroom houses a comfortable king-size sleigh bed with matching furniture. The second bedroom has a comfortable single bed (z-bed available if required) . Garage and washing facilities for mountain bikes.
Wigtownshire is an area offering varied interests, both for the outdoor & wildlife enthusiasts and those who enjoy exploring the surrounding towns and villages. These include the market town of Newton Stewart, Scotland's Book Town - Wigtown, the Food Town of Castle Douglas and the Artist's town of Kirkcudbright. Stable Cottage lies only a short distance from Kirroughtree 7stanes mountain bike trails, regarded as being some of the best in the world with a bike hire shop and cafe.
