Templand Cottages enjoy a spectacular outlook down Nithsdale valley and sits in some of the loveliest, least-trampled countryside in Scotland. Facilities include a heated indoor pool & sauna inside a cosy log cabin, free cycle hire, games room (table tennis& pool table) and a safe children's play area.

The attractive village of Thornhill is only half a mile away and has an excellent selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The 6 luxury self-catering cottages have been converted from the original sandstone farm buildings where the great Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle married Jane Welsh in 1826.

The cottages are set round a lovely landscaped courtyard with an adjacent wood and stunning views of the valley. Wildlife is abundant here including red squirrels, many bird species and roe deer. Our visitors return to Templand cottages again and again to enjoy the tranquil beauty here. This is an ideal centre for both walkers and cyclists with horse riding facilities just round the corner. There is excellent fishing on the river Nith & many local lochs and plenty of good golf courses.

Explore the natural beauty of Dumfries & Galloway and visit many castles and historic houses in the area including places associated with Scotland's National BArd, Robert Burns. The ancient Burgh of Dumfries and the stunning Solway coast are within easy reach.
