The Smiddy was the original working blacksmith"s shop for Physgill
and Glasserton Estate. The hamlet of Glasserton is on the edge of
Glasserton woods and comprises the Smiddy, Staging Post house,
Woodcutter's cottage, Blacksmith's cottage and an old water powered
sawmill (now disused). David and Heather Child converted the Smiddy
from a working building to a luxury dwelling in 1994. It is now a
delightfully cosy dedached cottage with all the convenience of a family
home with the added advantage of Idyllic surroundings.
A great
deal of time was spent choosing the furnishings and decor with the
combination of carefully selected antiques and new modern furniture
giving the Smiddy a very inviting atmosphere. The colour in the
co-ordinated tartan fabric used throughout the cottage for bed linen
and all curtains echoes in the accessories from teacups to lampshades.
Particular attention has been paid to make the Smiddy as allergen free
as possible from the quarry tiled floor to the bed linen and pillows.
The
Smiddy has a large living room and dining room with comfortable
couches, open fire, colour television and French doors that open onto
the fenced garden at the rear of the cottage. Everything you need for
making a sandwich or a 5 course meal is in the kitchen.
The tiled bathroom has a shower, bath, glass shower screen and a bidet.
The
double bedroom has a black and brass double bed with contiental quilt
and mirrored wardrobes. There are also French doors giving a beautiful
view from the bed of the fields and woods surrounding the Smiddy. The
second bedroom has twin beds with continental quilts and faces south.
When
you arrive at the Smiddy it will be invitingly clean and warm. Hot
water is on tap, fresh linen is on the beds, freshly laundered towels
available for your use and the open coal fire in the living room laid
awaiting your arrival. The bunker in the garden is always full of coal.
If
you have small children the large, fully fenced back garden with a gate
gives peace of mind. In addition, there is more than ample parking
space available.
