The Tower House, a listed building, provides self-catering holiday accommodation in a former toll house, built in the 1800s. The cottage has recently been refurbished to a high standard with accommodation comprising lounge, kitchen/dining room, double bedroom, twin bedroom and bathroom. The beautiful south facing garden of the Tower House provides a delightful setting in which to enjoy your holiday, with splendid views across open countryside.

Throughgate is a small hamlet close to the village of Dunscore, which is a short walk away and has a Post Office and a hotel/pub. The Tower House provides an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside and for walking in Scotland's southern uplands. For mountain bikers, the cottage is perfectly located for three of the five 7stanes mountain bike trails of Dumfries and Galloway plus nearby Drumlanrig - not a stane but a jewel!

Nearby Thornhill, a beautiful village, offers a number of shops and banks. The larger town of Dumfries, is just 9 miles away and offers a wide range of facilities including swimming pool and museums.

Whether you're interested in golf, fishing, walking or cycling, The Tower House in Throughgate is ideally located for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. As you'll see from the interactive map, The Tower House is close to a number of local attractions.

The Tower House lies 9 miles from Dumfries, a town with many connections to Robert Burns. You'll also find many beautiful villages close by including Thornhill and Moniaive, which are well worth a visit.
