Description
Part of the National Trust for Scotland, Thomas Carlyle's Birthplace, was home of the great historian and writer, was built in 1790 and laid out to show Thomas Carlyle's lifestyle. The house includes several portraits of the great thinker as well as some of his personal possessions. It is situated just off the M74, 5.5 miles south east of Lockerbie.
