Fisher Family welcome one and all to their Tigh Na Mara - which is Gaelic for House By The Sea.

Ian and Dorothy Fisher are local to Sandhead, so when the opportunity arose to buy the property in January 2003, they could not resist, and soon their dream became reality. Ian and Dorothy now manage the hotel with their son Neil who, after working 8 years in Glasgow (at places such as One Devonshire Gardens, Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles and on the Royal Scotsman Luxury Train) has now returned to create that warm and friendly country inn feel.

The Tigh Na Mara Hotel is a comfortable and welcoming hotel on the shores of Luce Bay at Sandhead village in Scotland's beautiful southwest corner of Dumfries & Galloway. Now under new management and with totally refurbished bedrooms and restaurant. We also have two cottages with double and twin rooms available right next to the Tigh Na Mara. There is also a beer garden to the rear and ample off-road parking for our guests. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Rhins of Galloway, The Machars and surrounding Galloway.

At the Tigh Na Mara Hotel & Restaurant we take great pride in the quality of the cuisine we offer. We utilise Scotland's abundance of fine produce such as superb beef and lamb, fresh seafood and rich game, combined with a vast selection of ingredients, drawn from around the globe. Whilst staying with us, why not take the opportunity to sample our extensive lunch and dinner menus.

The hotel offers seven en-suite rooms, recently refurbished, with four located within the hotel and three situated in the former cottages joined onto the hotel. Every room has tea and coffee making facilities, colour television and irons are available. secure parking is located at the rear of the hotel. Pets are welcome in certain rooms and smoking or non-smoking accommodation is available - please enquire further when making your reservation. Don't forget! We have a large, fully modernised, function suite ready for your party or special event!
